The Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI) is the major Italian university focused on Engineering, Architecture and Industrial Design, with an excellent international reputation. POLIMI will participate with its research unit on 3D digitization and modelling of Cultural Heritage which has gained scientific and technological competences through the participation in several international and interdisciplinary research projects in the areas of heritage digitization, geometric and physically-based modelling, virtual reality and virtual prototyping, reverse modelling and engineering, multi-modal user interfaces. During the last decade the POLIMI unit has cooperated with several national and international partners in major heritage 3D digitization and modelling projects (3D-ICONS, 3D POMPEI, ROME REBORN, etc.).
